This small set of student-grade watercolors is perfect for the serious beginner! The palette is almost perfect for mixing an array of needed colors. The Purple Lake developes some amazing purples and oceanic greens! There is plenty of palette space- you could not ask for more from a compact set.

Not as well designed and feature-packed as the higher priced W&N Cotman field box set or the exhorbitantly priced W&N artist's field box set--but not nearly as costly either. This is a decent and very affordable little set--compact and sturdy, with a good selection of colors. The lack of an integrated water container is not a serious flaw, since most of us tote around a bottle of drinking water anyway. But the slide out water holder is too small and shallow to be of much use for anything but quick sketches, unless you want to be constantly refreshing it. The cakes are not high quality paint, but are easily replaceable if better color saturation is desired. For a minimalist and affordable pocket set with everything but a water bottle, this is a great choice.

I really like this kit for its compact organization and travel-worthy design and sturdy, water-friendly plastic. The paints are student grade, however, and hence, are not the inspiring quality that you can get elsewhere. Best to buy this kit and then immediately replace all the pans with your favorite artist quality paints from tubes.

I don't know what I'd do without this handy little kit. Keeping it stuffed in my jacket pocket or in my wheelchair's backpack, I can be painting any scene anywhere in a minute. Best for sketches, the versatile kit also works ok for more-detailed pieces. It's a little pricey, but its quality and great design make it well-worth the cost.
