The markers are great. I bought the 152-marker set and it lays down smooth, rich color. However, the Periwinkle marker was already completely dried out when I got it and I had to go buy a replacement.
While these markers are great, I have one major gripe with them.
The color tags on the majority of the markers are nowhere near the pigment the marker contains. you will have to have a swatch handy or make your own which I recommend, a marker can look like a shade of yellow for example and be a green. if you rely on being able to just grab one at a glance without knowing the name of the marker or don't know how the pigments truly appear, you are going to have a rough time.
The case as well is cheap and not conducive to an effective manner of fast marker selection.
Other than than, they are great.
We got the skin tone set... and they were a perfect set representing the spectrum of people
These are high quality markers that easily mix to make a wide range of colors. I use these markers in my classes at school and my work consistantly exhibits very high reviews from others.
Great product. I like the fact that there is a broad tip and another fine tip at the other end, although I think the package should state that clearer, as it took me awhile to discover the fine tip.
got my 72 marker set for a year now and it works, but some of the this tips spit more easily, but it still works;' i remembreed calling MisterART.com about some split tips when i first got the markers and they sent me new ones free shipping.
I bought the 144 marker set and I love them! I use them professionally and love the selection of so-alike colors that makes blending a wonderful experience. High recommended product, whichever size you choose.
These markers are perfect, and the delivery was super fast. Thanks Mister Art!!!
I love these markers and have for 25 years (not this particular set which is new). The colors are true, the tips are durable, they don't dry out quickly. It has been my experience that they bleed through sketch type paper, but just have your "trash" paper handy for underneath.
I bought these for my sister who is a Fashion Design minor. She says the markers are great, but I still can't understand why they're so expensive! She also said shipping was fast compared to the wait times other students in her class had.
They are easy to use and do a wonderful job. Also very long lasting. I will always trust PRISMACOLOR.
My daughter is an art major and specifically requested this particular brand of markers. For her Christmas gift I purchased the 144 marker set which includes all colors and grays plus the colorless blender and 12 studio stackers for organizing the markers. She couldn't be happier and just absolutely loves the quality of these markers.
If used with the right person, these markers can do the most wonderful things!
Great markers! Great Price! I ordered the 144 set and am not disappointed, there are so many markers to choose from that I'm so excited to try them all.
I love the entire Prismacolor line! While I have ABSOLUTELY NO artistic talent, Mister Art's fine selection of adult coloring books coupled with the Prismacolor line conceals it well, (so far I have the 120-count colored pencil set, the 24-count marker set and the 24-count Art Stix set- and I love them all).
THE MARKERS: I opted for the 24-count set but I am going to upgrade to the 72-count set, (which is the perfect selection for the non-professional), as soon as I am able- these markers are just that good. They always perform admirably and have no headache inducing fumes like the Chartpak markers do. GET SOME AND YOU WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER BRAND.
*** IMPORTANT NOTE ON BLENDING ***
I have read a few reviews from people who had poor results blending these markers and so did I- until I learned the seldom-disclosed trick to it, (shame on Prismacolor for not explaining it on the packaging). To get these markers to blend you MUST put down a "base coat" with the blender, then apply the colors, and then smooth it out again with a final "top coat" with the blender. Do that - practice/experiment a few times - and you will attain phenomenal results!
As always, prisma makes top of the line markers. You can't go wrong. Even better, MisterArt has great pricing on them! Highly recommended.
I have been using these markers for years. For this price point, nothing beats them. (Markers twice this price are great, but also have much stronger fumes.)The only flaw is that the outside wrappers do not always accurately convey the color of the ink itself, but you quickly learn which color is what.
Great markets... great deal. This exact set was at Michael's (the art supply store) for $95.00. The markers work wonderfully.
Markers are fabulous! I do a lot of craft projects and love the smooth flow of the markers without streaking. Great choice of color variations. Cannot say enough about this wonderful product. Highly recommend!
It is my opinion that Prismacolors are the best markers available. They come in so many different shades, and within each color range, there are several shades available. Also, they never leave feathering, or streaks, when I use them, like so many markers do. After buying them individually for a while, I decided to invest in a set, and I am so happy with it! They make my homemade cards look professional. I used this Prismacolor set on my Christmas cards this year, and several people wondered where I had purchased the cards. If you do a lot of art work
and want it to look its best, please think about ordering a set of Prismacolors. Also, order your set from Mr. Art. The delivery was fast, and the markers were very well packed.
I recently ordered the Prismacolor 144 Marker Set and, overall, have been happy with the purchase. This large set comes with 12 free stacking trays which are essential to keeping the colors organized and within easy reach. The variety of colors is substantial, the pigmentation is vibrant, but I was disappointed with the blending capability. These markers do not blend well when using the Clear Blender. I was concerned about which size the "fine tip" end would be, but all of my markers have the larger fine tip which does not dry up and works more like a brush than a pen nib. This set was an investment, but the prices at MisterArt.com could not be beat--I looked everywhere and with the MisterArt.com VIP program, these pens are actually cheap compared tot he competitors! Plus, the delivery time was amazingly fast.
These Markers are fabulous. They are vibrant and produce very satisfying effects especially if you get a clear blender- produces water color like effects but with more control. I am especially fond of the cool grey set. One major drawback- the small end dries out.
My children and I have had a great time with this marker set. Orginally I was only going to save them for my use, but they wanted to join in and we have spent many wonderful hours coloring and talking. Love the 2 different ends on each marker!
These markers are rather streaky compared to the Chartpak Ad Markers, however the range and sheer brightness of the colors still earn their way in my collection. Works great with the color blender. There is some bleeding but it can be corrected.
FANTASTIC markers. Great color and blending. Amazing ability to color without causing the streaking particular to lesser quality markers. If you don't want the markers to cause your line work to bleed, make sure that you use WATERPROOF ink/pens. Also allow enough time for your ink to dry throughly before applying the marker colors. These markers are very "juicy", so using a regular pen for line work is out of the question if you want to avoid bleeding. All in all a great buy! When it comes to art supplies, you get what you pay for!
The price is right!! The fine point end dries out quickly, but easy to use the broad tip for fine outline if necessary. I love the watercolor effect and the ease they present to use as a paintbrush.
I saved up for almost three months to buy the set of 144, and I don't regret it one bit. The array of available colors is amazing, and they blend surprisingly well for markers. They do bleed a bit, but a little extra care can compensate for it. The included studio stackers are useful, but once you load the markers into them, they won't all fit back into the box at once, so these aren't portable supplies. Still, I swear by Prismacolor in general, and I'm overall delighted with these.
So far I really like this product. The fine tip is great for outlinework and detailing.
I bought the cool gray set. They do a great job of reproducing an accurate gray scale! The only down-side is the fine-tip-end tends to dry out.
I purchased these pens for my five year-old budding artist and she just loves them. My only complaint is not about the pens, but about the plastic holders which they come in. These holders are just fine if you never need to move them and are very careful about retrieving and returning pens. Otherwise, they are constantly falling apart. Not fun if you end up having to pick up all of the pens off of the floor...more than once.
These are fantastic. They took my art to a new level. The watercolor effect outplays any graphic effect making your art look more proffessional.
Absolutely love these markers! Great watercolor effect, and easily blends.
These are really nice. They can add a lot of depth and shadow to anything you draw, they fade at the edges like watercolor so you can blend them with each other. However if you're not careful, they seem to bleed any ink you draw over the top of.
Wow,these are terrific! I have been teaching drawing to four of my children for about 2 years and have only used the cheaper brands of markers. We just completed our first major project with the Prismacolor set and the difference is amazing. The Prismacolor markers give a watercolor effect. Quite different from the standard dime store marker! These are worth every penny.
These create a very vibrant use of color. I would recommend these!
These markers have been well worth the investment. They blend well and have such an assortment of colors. I was able to get set of 12 and supplement about four more colors to have a great spectrum for each small group in my classes.
No one wants to stop drawing when we use these, including myself!
