These gouache-like, inexpensive student grade acrylics are extra opaque with rich saturated color. They dry to a flat matte surface, and their creamy, soft body allows for easy brush out and thinning with water and mediums. Basic Matt Student Acrylic Colors are non-toxic and are water resistant when dry. They are perfect for students or for experienced artists on a budget. Basics Matt Acrylic Colors come in 75 ml tubes.

We just had a ladies "Craft Night" at our church with 26 women painting my handcrafted wooden flower boxes. These paints were perfect as the boxes wre different choice of stain. The colors were vibrant easy to use and great coverage.

I realize these are student grade paints, but the colors are not opaque and the body is inconsistent, from runny to creamy. I've had better luck with high quality kids' tempera paint. On the other hand, the price is right, and you can have fun without worrying about affordability, if that's a concern for you. Having been raised by parents who grew up during the Depression, paper was a luxury item in our house, crayons and pencils was all we got, and I'm always too inhibited when using more expensive art materials. These don't suck, I just wish they were opaque as advertised.

Excellent paint. I had no problems with it clotting or running, it dried well and timely, and the colors were excellent.

I bought these for school, and I think they work really well, because we aren't using canvas' quite yet (Cause they can cost a lot...and I'm only in community college). But, they are really smooth, and great colors. (only thing I forgot to get was black and white, but oh well.

For student grade a good buy.

I've tried this Liquitex Matt basics recently. This is good for me! I often create "bumps" on painting surface by accident. (it often happens when I use Gesso on paint surface), but this Matt Basic doesn't shine, so it helps to cover up those bumps very well. This is very smooth to apply too. I have purchased the primary color package (5 colors in a pack), I want to try more different colors.

Good quality, even consistency. Only problem is that getting the last paint out of these plastic tubes is a pain.
